Manchester City Target Barcelona Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Report

Manchester City are plotting a summer swoop for Barcelona frontman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, news daily Sport understands.

The Sweden international has been linked with a new challenge after seeing Barcelona secure the services of Valencia's David Villa last month.

The Catalan club have stressed that Ibrahimovic, who joined from Inter last summer, is not on the market, but reports in Spain indicate the Liga champions would not turn down a big-money offer for the 28-year-old.

City boss Roberto Mancini is a profound admirer of Ibrahimovic after coaching him during his time at the helm of Inter, and it is believed he is keen on a reunion.

Sport further claims that Mancini and Ibrahimovic have been in touch over the phone on a regular basis, with the Italian tactician informing the striker of his plans for the Citizens.

With funds not an issue at Eastlands, City would be able to meet the €50 million price-tag Barcelona are understood to have set for Ibrahimovic.
