Inter Target Benfica Midfielder Ramires - Report

Inter are pondering a move for SL Benfica midfielder Ramires, according to news daily Record.

The Serie A champions have been credited with an interest in Ramires for some time now, with former coach Jose Mourinho understood to have considered signing him if he stayed at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Although the self-proclaimed Special One is now at the helm of Real Madrid, reports in Portugal claim Inter's desire to have the 23-year-old in their ranks has not lessened.

Ramires, who signed for Benfica from Cruzeiro last summer, is tied down to the Eagles until 2014 with a release clause of €30 million in his contract.

However, the Nerazzurri could include out-of-favour Ricardo Quaresma in the deal in a bid to reduce the transfer fee.

Brazil coach Dunga has been mooted as a likely candidate to assume the Inter hotseat, and it is believed he would ask for the services of Ramires, of whom he is a confessed admirer.
