The Spanish club have confirmed the player has joined them...
Atletico Madrid have landed Juventus midfielder Tiago on a six-month loan deal with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The Portuguese star had only played seven out of 18 games in Serie A, with just three appearances in Europe. His search for regular football has presented him with the chance to revive his playing fortunes in Spain.

A statement on their official website clubatleticodemadrid.com reads:

"Club Atletico de Madrid have reached an agreement with Juventus FC for the temporary loan of the player Tiago Cardoso Mendes, with option to buy him permanently.

"The Portuguese midfielder will be presented by the President of the club, Mr. Enrique Cerezo, in the VIP room of the Vicente Calderon Stadium on the morning of Monday 11 January (time to be confirmed)."

Juventus have not released a statement confirming their side of the deal, but Tiago is in line to make his Atleti debut against Recreativo Huelva in the Copa del Rey in midweek.

Spanish reports claim he arrived in the capital on Thursday and immediately underwent a medical. Tiago is the club's first signing of the winter window and it is said he is delighted with the move.
