Spainish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for £60million according to the Daily Star.
Supporters will expect the words 'body, 'dead', 'my' and 'over' to be leaping to the mind of Sir Alex Ferguson upon hearing the news that the La Liga side are in the hunt for another of the Red Devils' prized assets.
Madrid controversially made Rooney's former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo the most expensive player in football history when they lured him to the Santiago Bernabéu for £80m in 2009.
The Portugal international has been in impressive form since switching to Spain and expressed his delight on potentially being re-united with his former colleague.
“He can be a spectacle and [a] sensation at Real Madrid and has all of the qualities to succeed in La Liga," Ronaldo told the Daily Mirror.
Rooney has been in scintillating form this season at Old Trafford, scoring 16 times in all competitions, with seven goals in his last seven outings.
