According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Premier League side Blackburn Rovers are preparing to pounce for Andy van der Meyde.
The 29-year-old is available to snap-up on a free-transfer after he was released by Everton earlier in June.
The 5ft 11in winger, who can play on the right or left, may use the offer from Rovers as an opportunity to get his football career back on track.
Having begun his career with Dutch giants Ajax, the Arnhem-born star made his debut for the Netherlands in 2002, and went on to win 18 caps for the Oranje, scoring one goal.
Van der Meyde joined Serie A champions Inter in 2003 for £4 million, and two-years later arrived at Goodison park for £2m.
However, circumstances limited the midfielder to just 24 first-team appearances for the Toffees in the previous four years.
It remains to be seen whether Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce can get the best out of a once highly-promising prospect.
