Roma To Decide Between Inter's Julio Cruz & Chelsea's Andriy Shevchenko – Report

Roma have stepped up their chase for a striker, and they have narrowed the search down to Chelsea's Andriy Shevchenko and Inter forward Julio Cruz, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

The capital club are looking to add a hitman who can make life easier for both Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic.

The report suggests Shevchenko is the Lupi’s first choice. The Ukrainian has just returned to Chelsea following a poor loan spell at Milan. 'Sheva' is unlikely to stay in London, and Roma are looking to pounce. Luciano Spalletti spoke to the player last year, but he went to the Rossoneri instead. The Lupi are now expected to try their luck again this summer, but they have an alternative if their move fails.

Inter star Cruz has also ticked all the boxes at Trigoria. The Argentinean is set to leave the San Siro this summer. He was close to joining Panathinaikos, but his reported €3 million per season wage demands scuppered the deal. The striker's deal with Inter expires today, but Fiorentina could challenge the Giallorossi for him.

In terms of Roma's outgoing players, voices claim a number of English and Spanish club's are keen on Brazilian striker Julio Baptista.
