OFFICIAL: Lyon’s Juninho Signs For Al Gharafa In Qatar

The Brazilian has penned a two-year deal with his new Qatari club.
Following the completion of a successful medical, it is now official: Juninho has left Lyon for Al Gharafa in Qatar.

According to, the club’s website has revealed that the Brazilian has agreed to sign a two year contract, which will see him at the Qatari outfit until the conclusion of the 2010/11 season.

He was officially presented as a new player at a press conference held late last night, in the presence of the hierarchy of the club.

The 34-year-old will wear the No. 5 on his back, as he commences a new chapter in his illustrious career. The move will disappoint the likes of Inter and Genoa in Italy, two clubs who were keen to acquire his services a little earlier in the summer.

Juninho’s new side managed to win their second successive Qatari League championship at the start of the year, and the sixth in their history.
