Report: Pep Guardiola Calls Bayern Munich’s Luca Toni To Barcelona

Luca Toni is reportedly considering a move away from the Allianz Arena after Bayern Munich signed Mario Gomez from Stuttgart and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the 2006 World Cup winner is weighing up an interesting proposal from European champions Barcelona.

It is suggested that Barca coach Pep Guardiola, who played alongside the striker at Brescia, has been in touch with the 32-year-old in recent weeks and sounded him out over his willingness to relocate to the Camp Nou.

The Catalans are allegedly in negotiations with Inter to sign Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, however, the move has stalled due to Samuel Eto’o’s refusal to leave the treble-winning team.

Toni arrived at Bayern from Fiorentina in the summer of 2007 and was top scorer in the Bundesliga in his debut season, netting 24 goals.

However, he failed to replicate that form last term and the prospect of an anonymous campaign in the shadow of Gomez and Miroslav Klose could push him into accepting Guardiola’s proposal.
