Arsenal and Zenit St. Petersburg are hot on the trail of Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi, according to

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger sees the former Manchester United prodigy as an ideal addition to the frontline. The French tactician is attempting to reinforce the squad after a disappointing campaign, so the London outfit can challenge for the Champions League and Premier League in 2009-10.

Meanwhile, Zenit St. Petersburg, have highlighted the 22-year-old as the replacement for Andrey Arshavin, who left for Arsenal this past winter. The Russian club have yet to replace the Euro 2008 star and have the financial power to bring in players of a high calibre.

Villarreal are unlikely to accept anything less than €16 million for the talented striker.

Rossi has bagged 15 goals in all competitions for the Yellow Submarines in 2008-09 and is set to take part in this summer's Confederations Cup with Italy.
