Report: Inter Track Twente Star Marko Arnautovic

The Serie A champions have joined the chase for the highly-rated Austrian hitman but face stiff competition if they are land him.

The Corriere dello Sport today reports that Inter have been scouting Twente forward Marko Arnautovic over the past few months.

With Hernan Crespo apparently on his way to Fiorentina and Julio Cruz unlikely to be offered a contract extension, the Nerazzurri are scouring the transfer market to find their fourth-choice striker for next season.

The 20-year-old has earned rave reviews in the Eredivisie this season, netting 12 goals in 28 appearances for the club lead by former England boss Steve McClaren.

Arnautovic is tied to the Enschede outfit until 2011 and is valued at around €12 million. Inter will face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal to secure his services.

Genoa are also said to be in the frame and there were reports earlier this month that the Grifoni were in advanced negotiations to sign the striker, who is hailed in Holland as the ‘new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.

Inter are believed to be on the verge of completing the signing of Genoa star Diego Milito and are also following Udinese striker Fabio Quagliarella.
