Real Madrid centre-back Fabio Cannavaro will fly out to Italy this evening and is expected to undergo routine medical tests tomorrow, before finalizing his move to Juventus, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
As has been strongly suggested in recent weeks, the 35-year-old will be offered a one-year contract by the Old Lady, with the option of a further season as a player, or as a director, for three more years.
Cannavaro will be out of contract with the Merengues this summer and admitted, earlier this week, that the club had advised him to look around now, as his position would not be discussed until after the presidential election in July.
However, Juve fans are still opposing the move, as they feel the former Napoli and Parma man betrayed the club in the summer of 2006, when they were demoted to the second tier of Italian football for their part in the Calciopoli scandal.
Cannavaro was in action last night, as Barcelona humiliated Real Madrid 6-2 at the Bernabeu to stretch their lead to seven points at the top of the La Liga table.
