Premier League club Everton have given a contract to American midfielder Anton Peterlin after he came through a successful trial spell at Goodison Park recently.
The 22-year-old currently plies his trade with California-based outfit Ventura County Fusion, who play in the fourth division in the United States.
The move will be a huge step-up for the youngster, who holds an EU passport, thanks to a Danish parent, but he has said that he is relishing the challenge.
"It’s cliché to say, but it really is a dream come true," Peterlin told Ventura County Star.
"I’ve always aspired to play at the highest level. I have a lot to give back to the Fusion. That’s why I’m playing with them [for the summer] but, whenever Everton calls, I’m going to go."
When asked what type of player he is, he replied, "It’s not a glamour position. I get my joy when we clean up dirty little messes and get into scraps."
Toffees manager David Moyes added, "Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability.
"We are therefore delighted to give him the chance to establish a professional career here at Everton."
