Report: Inter & Lazio Target Marcos Angeleri Will Join Parma

In a sensational twist, the Serie B side seem to have beaten their more illustrious rivals to the signature of the highly-rated full-back.

According to reports in today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Serie B club Parma have agreed terms with Argentine right-back Marcos Angeleri and struck a deal with his club Estudiantes to bring him to Emilia Romagna next summer.

Angeleri, who will turn 26 next week, had long been on the radar of Inter and Lazio, with the latter appearing to be in the driving seat to secure his services.

Parma were already linked with a move for the Argentine international during the January transfer window and it is suggested they will pay Estudiantes a transfer fee of around €4 million.

Angeleri’s contract with the La Plata-based outfit was set to run out in 2010 and he is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Gialloblù.

The official announcement should come over the next few days and the defender will likely become the first reinforcement for the Parmigiani for next season.

Parma seem headed for a swift return to the top flight after a single season in the Second Division, as they currently sit in second place, four points adrift of leaders Bari, with nine games left to play.
