Inter coach Leonardo was in jubilant mood after his side’s 3-1 win over Palermo in the Coppa Italia final at the Olimpico.
The tactician was over the moon with his team's effort, and hailed a perfect ending to the season.
"It was an exciting win, a perfect close to a season of continuity,” the Brazilian told reporters after the game. “It is an immense achievement, the team showed great desire to lift the cup against a very good Palermo side, who deserve compliments.”
"Being able to close the season by winning Coppa Italia on the day of the 150th anniversary of Italy's reunification is a wonderful thing," added Leonardo in an interview with ANSA.
The coach also commented on the atmosphere in the stadium and the challenges that lie ahead next season.
"To finish this season playing in a big event like the Italian Cup final with Palermo's and Inter's wonderful fans in the stadium is the best thing,” enthused Leonardo. "We have to keep our desire to win with us next season.
“It was a difficult match, and without lust for success we could not have done this. The three titles are a sign of continuity that few teams have.”
Inter's triumph on Sunday evening means that they have picked up three trophies this season - the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa and the Club World Cup.
