Inter-bound Botta out for six months

The Nerazzurri have added insult to injury as the midfielder, who is due to join the side in the summer, has suffered a severe setback continuing the club's injury crisis

Tigre midfielder Ruben Botta has been ruled out for six months ahead of his summer move to Serie A giants Inter.

The 23-year-old snapped his cruciate ligament and meniscus ligament in his left knee during Tigre’s 2-1 win over Olimpia in the Copa Libertadores.

The Argentine was preparing for a move to the San Siro at the end of the season after already agreeing terms, but will now undergo rehabilitation which could see him sidelined well into the next campaign.

Inter have been severely unlucky with injuries this season having seen most of the first-team sidelined at one point or another with Javier Zanetti the latest to be ruled out for a sustained period of time.

Botta is still contracted to the Buenos Aires club until June 30.
