Chiellini expected out for three months with calf muscle tear

The Bianconeri may now rue the decision to terminate Lucio's contract following the news that the Italy defender sustained a lesion and faces a lengthy spell on the treatment table
Juventus may be without first-choice centre-back Giorgio Chiellini for up to three months, as the player himself revealed on Thursday that he has suffered a calf injury.

The Italy international underwent tests on Thursday to examine the severity of knock, and the 28-year-old faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"Unfortunately a lesion on my calf muscle has been confirmed. I’ll have to be out for a while ... But I'll do everything I can to return as soon as possible and stronger than ever," he wrote on Twitter.

"I thank you for the many get well soon messages I received over the last few hours. A hug to all of you."

Juve recently released Lucio on a free transfer, meaning the club might be in the market for a defender in January.
