Walter Samuel nearing Inter comeback

Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has received some encouraging news from the treatment room as centre-back Walter Samuel is nearing his comeback after missing Sunday's 0-0 draw away to Fiorentina in Serie A due to injury.

The 34-year-old picked up a muscle strain in the 2-1 win over Siena two weeks ago, and was consequently expected to be ruled out of action for at least three weeks.

However, the Argentine defender is making good progress in his recovery and is already nearing full fitness again as he resumed training action with the ball on Monday morning.

Samuel will not be match fit in time for Wednesday's league game away against Udinese, but he could make his comeback in the home match versus Cesena on April 29.

Inter currently sit seventh in the Serie A table, trailing third-placed Lazio by six points in the race for the Champions League play-off berth.
