Fiorentina supporters apologise for criticising Sinisa Mihajlovic - report

The Serb was greeted with a complimentary banner outside the Artemio Franchi en route to training on Wednesday, and has treated fans to an open session prior to the weekend

Fiorentina fans have apologised to coach Sinisa Mihajlovic by displaying a banner outside the club's home stadium on Thursday, according to Il Corriere della Sera.

The 42-year-old has come under heavy criticism from the club's supporters in recent weeks, with increasing calls for the former Inter defender to vacate the hotseat following some poor performances.

However, a number of fans opted to apologise to Mihajlovic after last weekend's 1-0 win over Genoa and proceeded to hang a banner on the gates of the Artemio Franchi, which read: 'As a coach we can oppose, but as a man we respect you, excuse us all. Signed the Curva.'

As a form of gratitude to the fans' support, Mihajlovic has decided to open Friday's training session to the public, in which attendees will witness a mini-match against the club's youth team.

Fiorentina currently sit in 10th place and will hope to pick up their second victory in a row when they face Chievo on Sunday.
