Inter president Massimo Moratti has stated that Gian Piero Gasperini is unlikely to stay on as head coach at the Giuseppe Meazza side.
The 53-year-old tactician has come under fire following Inter's disastrous start to the 2011-12 campaign.
To date, they have lost four of their opening five games, and it only appears to be a matter of time before Gasperini is sacked following Moratti's latest comments.
"I don't think Gasperini will stay with Inter. It's a very difficult situation for him," Moratti was quoted as saying by reporters.
"I have yet to think about a possible replacement."
Moratti already hinted on Tuesday after the 3-1 Serie A defeat against Novara that Gasperini's spell in charge of Inter could be nearing its end, stating that the coach 'does not have the team in hand'.
Inter currently sit 17th in the Serie A table with only one point from three games.
