'I've lost the weight & I am ready for Inter challenge' - Mauro Zarate

The Argentine forward admits he may have been a little over-indulgent at the table, but said he is fit enough to play after burning off the calories
Mauro Zarate has rubbished suggestions he is overweight as he promises to give his best for Inter following his loan move there from Lazio.

The 24-year-old forward left Edy Reja's men on the final day of the transfer window hoping for a new lease of life at San Siro.

Zarate appeared to have gained weight over the summer, but he has set the record straight.

"When I was in Argentina with my friends on holiday I ate a lot of food and so I came back a little overweight, but I have lost this in pre-season and so I am ready to play," he told reporters as he was unveiled in Milan.

Zarate was signed alongside Diego Forlan so he could add further options following Samuel Eto'o's departure.

"Eto'o is a great player, but this is a new season and both myself and Forlan are different players."

Inter also signed Andrea Poli from Sampdoria, and he is eager to step up to the plate.

"I am very proud to join Inter and I cannot wait to start," Poli added.

"This is a great club with top champions and I want to do well for the team and the coach."

The Milanese club play Palermo at the Barbera next Sunday.
