Inter confirm Maicon's knee surgery has gone well in Brazil

Surgery to medial meniscus has been described as 'complete success' by the Italian giants as stopper goes under the knife
Inter have confirmed Maicon's knee surgery has gone to plan, but his recovery time is not yet known.

The right-back flew to Brazil to have the operation to his medial meniscus of his right knee after he injured it in training last month.

The Italian side have now said surgery was successful through a statement on their official website.

"Maicon has undergone an operation on the medial meniscus of his right knee in Rio de Janeiro. Professor José Luis Runco, the Brazilian national team's head doctor who oversaw the operation with his medical team, has informed Inter's chief of medical staff Franco Combi that the arthroscopic surgery was a complete success," read the press release.

Inter take on Lecce in their Serie A opener on Sunday.
