AC Milan's Massimiliano Allegri keen to get off to a winning start by beating Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana

The Serie A champions' head coach has set his sights on winning the Italian Supercup and added that the two city rivals are favourites to win the Scudetto this term
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is eagerly anticipating the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana clash against Inter and is keen to get the season off to a good start by beating their arch-rivals in China.

Allegri stated that Milan have worked well in pre-season and are raring to go before adding that he considers Inter to be their main rivals for the Serie A title.

"We want to start the season in great fashion by winning the derby against Inter to lift the Supercoppa. We have worked hard in the past two weeks and will be ready," Allegri said to reporters, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

"It's an important game and we have to be focussed if we are to get the result we want. You have to be motivated for games like this. There's a trophy at stake and we want to meet our rivals in a derby."

"At the moment, we and Inter are the favourites to win the Scudetto, although the other teams have really strengthened themselves. Winning in Beijing would be the perfect start to the season for us."

Milan will have three more weeks to prepare for their Serie A opener against Cagliari on August 28 after Saturday's Supercoppa Italiana match.
