New Inter arrival Ricky Alvarez has stated his belief that the 2010 Champions League winners are the best side in the world, and also admitted that Arsenal were interested in signing him, but he is delighted to have joined the world champions instead.
Alvarez completed a €12 million move to Giuseppe Meazza from Velez Sarsfield last week, and the playmaker could not hide his satisfaction at joining the Milanese outfit.
"I have chosen Inter, the best club in the world. Were Arsenal interested in me? Yes, that's true, but I'll say it again, Inter are the best team in the world," Alvarez was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"Playing for the best club in the world is a marvellous feeling for me. I've really enjoyed these first few days, I'm settling in and we're already working hard in order to win as many trophies as possible; I am really happy."
The 23-year-old then went on to explain that the presence of a number of compatriots at the club is beneficial to him at this early stage.
"Having various Argentinian team-mates is a great help. [Walter] Samuel, for example, at the moment is helping me a lot, since none of the others are here yet, as are Colombians Cordoba and Rivas, and the rest of the squad have rallied round, too."
The trio of Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Milito will join up with Alvarez upon completion of the Copa America, taking place in Argentina this month.
