Inter offer Davide Santon to Roma - report

The young full-back is considered to be one of Italian football's brightest defensive talents, but the world champions appear ready to let him leave for the capital
Inter have offered promising full-back Davide Santon to Serie A rivals Roma, Sportitalia reports.

Luis Enrique's side are in the market for a new left-back because of the ongoing uncertainty over the future of John Arne Riise and have previously been linked with Sporting Gijon's Jose Angel.

Inter are hopeful that their domestic rivals will move for Santon instead, and are ready to let him move to the Stadio Olimpico on a one-year loan or on a co-ownership deal.

The 20-year-old was considered to be one of the most promising young defenders in Europe upon making his breakthrough into the first team at San Siro in January 2009, but Santon has struggled to make an impact at Inter in the two years since.

The Italy international was shipped out on loan to Cesena for the second half of the 2010-11 campaign and it seems unlikely that he will be afforded regular playing time at the world champions next year. His current contract with Inter runs until the summer of 2013.
