Palermo have officially announced the signing of Israel attacking midfielder Eran Zahavi from Hapoel Tel Aviv for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for the Israeli outfit in recent years, scoring 27 goals and laying off 20 assists in 91 appearances for the club, with 13 coming in his last campaign.
Zahavi also scored a wonder goal in last season's edition of the Champions League, netting from a spectacular bicycle kick in a group match against Lyon.
He has signed a five-year contract with Palermo that will tie him to the club until 2016.
Club president Maurizio Zamparini has hailed his latest arrival, comparing him to fellow attack-minded players Javier Pastore and Josip Ilicic.
"He reminds me of Pastore in how he moves," said Zamparini. "Zahavi's transfer is similar to that of last year with Ilicic."
"We have taken more than a gamble, I call it a discovery. Zahavi is a player with excellent quality, in my opinion even better than Cassano. He's a great talent and can express his full potential and just needs time to settle in Serie A."
