Experienced attacker Miroslav Klose has joined Serie A outfit Lazio on a two-year deal after passing his medical, the Italian side have confirmed on their official website.

The capital club were eager to add some more depth to their front line ahead of the 2011-12 campaign in order to be ready to compete in three competitions following their Europa League qualification, and head coach Edy Reja now has his desired reinforcement in the form of the German international.

Klose announced his decision not to extend his expiring contract at Bayern Munich on Monday, and despite interest from Valencia and Trabzonspor, opted to pen a deal with the Stadio Olimpico side.

Talking to reporters about his decision, he stated: "I tracked Lazio's progress and they have a very solid squad including Mauro Zarate, Hernanes, Cristian Ledesma and Andre Dias.

"I also like the club colours, as there is a lot of joy around the club and that means a lot to me."

The 33-year-old will have to fight it out with attackers such as Mauro Zarate, Libor Kozak, Tommaso Rocchi and Sergio Floccari for a spot in the starting XI.
