Udinese patron Giampaolo Pozzo is hopeful of keeping Alexis Sanchez away from the clutches of Barcelona, who are in pole position to sign the Chile international.
Udinese president Franco Soldati revealed on Tuesday that the Catalans had put together a package for Sanchez but Pozzo is adamant that he is in no mood to sell the 22-year-old attacker unless a substantial offer reaches his desk.
"Despite everyone wanting him [Sanchez], I am faithful that 'Nino Maravilla' can still play with the Udinese jersey next year, especially in light of the talks which have developed thus far," Pozzo said to the club's official website..
"If, in fact, an irresistible offer does not arrive then it will mean the great clubs are not ready to value him in the way he deserves to be."
The Italian chief feels a Sanchez stay will likely prove beneficial for all at the club, especially as they are in the Champions League qualifiers.
"It would be better for him to remain in Friuli for another season to determine his quality and terminate his course of maturation which started three years ago. It would be good for us and him."
Last week Sanchez was quoted as saying that Barcelona would be a great destination, but it seems Udinese will not let him leave without a fight.
