I want to become the best full-back in the world - Inter's Yuto Nagatomo

The Japanese international capped a fine season by winning the Coppa Italia at the weekend and is already looking forward to upping his game next term
Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo has expressed his ambition to become the best full-back in the world at the world champions next season.

The Japan international joined the Serie A giants from Cesena on a six-month loan deal in January, and is regarded as one of the most capable full-backs in the top-flight.

However, Nagatomo spoke of his desire to progress his career, telling the club's official website: "I want to continue going forward to improve. These six months at Inter have helped me a lot; one year in this team is like ten in another club. My personal goal for next season is to become the best full-back in the world."

The 24-year-old then went on to express his delight at Inter's 3-1 Coppa Italia victory over Palermo on Sunday evening.

"Many things happened during this year, now - going through this time of great joy - it seems almost incredible, after the tears for the elimination from the World Cup in South Africa. Now it seems like I'm living a dream."

It is widely expected that Inter will make moves to secure  Nagatomo, who sits 828th in the Castrol EDGE Rankings, on a permanent deal this summer.
