Official: Alessandro Nesta signs 2012 AC Milan extension

It's now official as AC Milan confirm Italian defender has agreed new deal
Alessandro Nesta has secured another season at AC Milan after the club announced the signing of a 2012 extension.

A statement on the club's official website reads:

"A.C. Milan communicates that Alessandro Nesta has today extended his contract until June 30, 2012."

There had been plenty of speculation regarding the player's future and some reports went as far as to suggest he would retire.

However, Milan's latest move has disproved such talk with Nesta becoming the fourth player after Thiago Silva, Mark Van Bommel and Flavio Roma to pen new deals.

Silva, Van Bommel and Roma all signed new contracts yesterday.

Nesta, 35, played 26 games for the Scudetto-winning team, and has been at San Siro since the 2002-03 season.
