Roma's Philippe Mexes: I am leaving and may join Milan

Mexes claims he will leave Roma at the end of the season, elevating speculation he is heading to Milan...
Roma defender Philippe Mexes has revealed he will leave the club in June and indicated that Milan could be his next port of call.

The 29-year-old was at Villa Stuart clinic in Rome to continue treatment following the surgery to ligaments in his left knee on Tuesday.

Mexes had been widely tipped to leave the club when his contract ends in the summer, and has now stated that he will depart after seven years in the Eternal City.

"I don't know [where I am going], I will decide with calm. I have had seven great years here and I have decided to leave at the end of the season," he is quoted as saying on Sportmediaset.it.

Mexes has long been linked with a move to Milan, but there has been no official confirmation of this.

However, when asked whether he is heading to the Rossoneri, Mexes said: "Milan... probably I will play there."

His recovery from the injury he picked up in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Juventus will take around six months, meaning he won't be back until next term.
