Milan keeping tabs on Ajax's Jan Vertonghen - report

Versatile defender Jan Vertonghen could be on his way out of Dutch giants Ajax at the end of the season, as Milan are closely monitoring his progress.
Belgium international Jan Vertonghen has caught the attention of Serie A table-toppers Milan with his good performances for Dutch giants Ajax in the 2010-11 campaign, Tuttosport reports.

I Diavoli are looking to add some more depth to their back-line in the summer transfer window and they consider the versatile stopper to be a useful addition to their squad.

Vertonghen is a product of the Germinal Beerschot youth academy, but left the Belgian side for Ajax in the summer of 2003, and made his official debut at the Godenzonen in August 2006.

The left-footed defender has become a key player in Amsterdam in the past two seasons and his displays haven't gone unnoticed by the Rossoneri, who have now apparently joined Arsenal in the race for his signature.

The centre-back won't be available on the cheap, though, and an offer in excess of €10 million could be needed to secure a deal.
