Norwegian international John Arne Riise could be on his way out of Italian side Roma in the summer transfer window, as Premier League outfit Newcastle United have shown an interest in signing the full-back.
The Magpies are in the market for a new left-back because of the possible departure of Jose Enrique, who is being linked with a move to Liverpool, and manager Alan Pardew sees Riise as the perfect replacement, if a report in Corriere dello Sport is to be believed.
Riise previously enjoyed a successful spell in the Premier League at Liverpool before joining Roma in the summer of 2008. He also wore the jerseys of Aalesund and Monaco in the early stages of his career.
The experienced defender's current contract with Roma runs until the summer of 2012, and the Giallorossi could very well decide to cash in on Riise at the end of this season in order to prevent him from leaving under the Bosman ruling.
