Inter full-back Maicon was relieved after the Nerazzurri were able to grind out a 1-0 victory over Cagliari at San Siro on Saturday night.
Andrea Ranocchia scored the only goal of the match when he deflected in Houssine Kharja's shot as the Beneamata cut Milan’s lead at the top of the Serie A table to just two points following the win.
Maicon spoke to Sky Sport Italia after the final whistle and admitted that it was a vital victory for the champions.
"We suffered at times but the most important thing is that we picked up three points," he said. "We are not thinking about Milan at the moment, only ourselves.
"We can now focus on the Champions League," he concluded.
Inter will lock horns with Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash at San Siro on Wednesday.
