Inter president Massimo Moratti has hit back at former coach Rafael Benitez, who claimed the club's medical team were to blame for the failure under his leadership.
On Wednesday Benitez had told Marca there was no liaison with Inter medics, meaning he had no clues as to what level players were at with injuries. He also added a lack of spending in the summer weakened his side further.
However, Moratti feels Benitez used weasel words to undermine the club's efforts.
"Let's say that, seeing Inter's recent results, we thought that there would be a reaction from Benitez," Moratti told the press.
"I haven't spoken to our doctor about this, but I think that he is a little hurt by these comments.
"But Dr. Combi is one of several strong points at the club, even if Benitez means to say that he is to blame for the injuries. Unfortunately for him, it's not the case."
