Milan full-back Gianluca Zambrotta will be going under the knife, the club confirmed in an official press release on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old will require arthroscopic surgery to repair a damaged medial meniscus and is set to undergo the operation within the next few days. The club did not reveal how much time the defender is expected to miss, however suggestions are at least two months.
Zambrotta has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season for Milan, who currently sit at the top of the Serie A standings with 36 points, three ahead of Napoli and Lazio.
Meanwhile, midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is continuing his recovery after picking up a knock during the Rossoneri's winter retreat in Dubai.
