Inter legend Giuseppe Bergomi believes his old team-mate Lothar Matthaeus would be perfect to solve the Italian and European champions' current problems.
The Nerazzurri appointed Leonardo as their coach before Christmas to repair the damage caused by the departed Rafael Benitez.
It is expected that Inter president Massimo Moratti will make some more signings in January to reinforce the squad, and Bergomi believes that someone like Matthaeus would solve their problems right away.
Interviewed in la Gazzetta dello Sport, when asked which former Inter player could rescue them now, Bergomi said, “Lothar Matthaeus would do very well.
“He is the best foreigner that I played ever played with. The German would be ideal in a team that lives for acceleration and changes of rhythm like this Inter.”
