Real Madrid Were Willing To Offer €25 Million For Javier Pastore - Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that Real Madrid were willing to play €25 million for Argentine sensation Javier Pastore last summer. The outspoken patron has often put the youngster's price tag in the region of €60 million when speaking to the press.

"There is an Arab sheikh, a friend, who is very intrigued [in buying Palermo]. If he buys the club then Pastore will remain at Palermo and we will build a great team around him," he told Italian newspaper Oggi.

"Everyone wants [Pastore]. Through an intermediary Real Madrid offered me €25m last summer."

Zamparini issued a quit threat after a controversial 3-1 loss to Milan on November 10, but has now said even if he sells the club he will still play a pivotal role

"Football isn't my whole life, but I don't think I will ever leave Palermo. The international group will need my assistance. I'll keep a part of the shares and remain with the board. I can give Palermo guarantees, they will aim high as both Manchester City and Chelsea did," he explained.

The Rosanero currently sit in seventh place in Serie A with 20 points, but are in desperate need of points in Europa League Group F after falling behind Sparta Prague and CSKA Moscow.
