According to a report in Corriere dello Sport, ambitious Serie A side Napoli are closely monitoring the progress of towering forward Jonathas, currently under contract with Eredivisie outfit AZ.
The Partenopei are reportedly eager to add some more firepower to their front-line and head coach Walter Mazzarri sees the 21-year-old Brazilian youngster as a useful addition to his squad.
Jonathas started his professional career with Cruzeiro and also wore the jersey of Itapinga before joining his current club in the summer of 2008. The striker has developed into an important first team member this season and his good performances apparently haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere.
"Jonathas is a really good striker and he could be of use to Napoli in my opinion. He's still young and is an excellent goalscorer. He's really special and is lethal in front of the goal," Mino Raiola, the player's agent was quoted as saying.
The young striker's current contract with AZ runs until the summer of 2013.
