Juventus Director Giuseppe Marotta: Gianluigi Buffon Won't Join Manchester United; Edin Dzeko Still Possible

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has said Gianluigi Buffon will not join Manchester United.
Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has summed up plans for the transfer market - Gianluigi Buffon remains anchored, but a move for Edin Dzeko has not run aground.

Buffon has been linked with Manchester United as voices in the Premier League suggested Edwin van der Sar would be retiring at the end of term.

Agent Silvano Martina responded to those reports on Thursday when he said there was no chance of Buffon leaving Juve.

And Marotta has added credibility to that belief by insisting the Italian goalkeeper will not be leaving the club.

"Manchester? Buffon is a Juventus player. I deny that there have been talks with United. Buffon plays for Juventus," Marotta told Tuttosport.

Juventus are looking to bid for new players in January, and Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko is a name that has not been crossed off the list.

"Intervening doesn't mean spending money, but taking advanatges of the opportunities," he added.

"If there is a chance to better this group then we will react.

"Dzeko? He is not a dream that has ended, but postponed. Our attack is a winning one as it is though."
