OFFICIAL: Javier Chevanton Signs One-Year Deal With Lecce

The Uruguayan rejoins his former club...
Newly promoted Serie A side Lecce have signed Uruguayan striker Javier Chevanton on a one-year deal, the southern Italian club announced on Monday.

The 30-year-old played for the Giallorossi between 2001 and 2004 before moving on to Monaco. Chevanton was signed by Sevilla in 2006 but with Frederic Kanoute and Luis Fabiano ahead of him, he found playing time difficult to come by,

Chevanton had his contract with the Spanish club rescinded at the weekend and left the Andalucians as a free agent. He played on loan for Atalanta for the second half of the 2009-10 Serie A season but couldn't save them from relegation.
