According to a report in Corriere dello Sport, Italian titans Milan are considering making a move for versatile defender Nicolas Otamendi, currently under contract with Argentinian outfit Velez Sarsfield.
The Rossoneri are desperate to strengthen their back-line ahead of the new season and new head coach Massimiliano Allegri reportedly considers the 22-year-old Otamendi to be the perfect addition to his defence.
Otamendi is a product of the Velez Sarsfield youth academy and made his debut for the Buenos Aires side in May 2008. The centre-back, who can also play at right-back, has since been linked with a move to Europe on more than one occasion.
He has previously been linked with Fiorentina, Juventus and Milan, and the Rossoneri have now apparently rejoined the list of suitors.
Velez Sarsfield have set a €12 million asking price for the Argentina international, but it appears unlikely that Milan are willing to meet Velez's demands. The Diavoli could instead make a loan move with an option to buy.
