Sao Paulo Star Hernanes On Verge Of Lazio Move

The transfer is virtually complete, according to the Brazilian outfit's vice-president...
After a fortnight of negotiations, Lazio are almost ready to announce the signing of Brazilian starlet Hernanes from Sao Paulo, the Brazilian club’s vice president Carlos Augusto de Barros e Silva announced to the media.

Hernanes has been one of the hot properties of the summer transfer market, attracting interest from several European sources, but he appears to be ready to settle in Rome.

“Everything should be resolved within the day,” the official was quoted as having said by La Repubblica. “There are still some details to iron out, but we are talking about simple red tape. At this moment I cannot make any formal announcement until the contracts have been signed."

Agent Joseph Lee went on to echo the vice president's comments, saying the deal is on the verge of being completed.

"He will join Lazio after the Copa Libertadores. If San Paolo go out in the semi-final, then he’ll make the move after international duty.

“The parties are all in agreement and this is practically a guarantee. We’re just waiting for the formalities.”

Hernanes could join his new team as early as the weekend as Sao Paulo play their Copa Libertadores semi-final against Internacional on Thursday. They trail 1-0 on aggregate from the first leg.
