Inter president Massimo Moratti has already named several potential successors to Jose Mourinho on the Nerazzurri bench, with England manager Fabio Capello at the forefront of the queue.
Turkey coach Guus Hiddink, Barcelona's Pep Guardiola, Zenit St. Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti and Roberto Baggio are among the other trainers to be linked with the post, but the Spanish media believe that former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini is heading for San Siro.
According to AS, Inter have already sounded out Pellegrini about succeeding Mourinho and the Chilean is apparently interested in taking up the role.
Pellegrini's preference is to continue coaching in Spain, having enjoyed great success with Villarreal before spending a season on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu, while he has also been connected with succeeding Marcelo Bielsa as coach of the Chilean national team following the World Cup.
However, Inter will need to move quickly if they hope to appoint Pellegrini as the Chilean is not short of offers. AS believe Fenerbahce are keen to hire the tactician and would be able to match the salary that Inter are prepared to offer him.
