Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi Hangs Up His Boots – Report

The final member of the 2000 Scudetto winning side is set to take on a coaching role with the Aquile…
With Lazio looking to trim down their extra large squad, it seems the first player to say goodbye to his playing days at the Stadio Olimpico will be Simone Inzaghi.

Arriving in the capital back in 1999, the former Piacenza hitman has long been the final member of Sven Goran Eriksson’s Scudetto winning side who was still plying his trade with the Biancocelesti.

According to reports from GazzettadelloSport, the 34-year-old hitman has agreed to terminate the final year of his contract in exchange for a coaching role with one of Lazio’s youth teams.

The younger brother of Milan forward Filippo Inzaghi, Simone will live long in the memories of the Aquile faithful most notably for his scoring record in Europe. He scored 20 times in European competition for the Biancocelesti, and is one of only six players in history to have scored four goals during a single Champions League game.
