AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has revealed he is on the brink of realising a childhood dream after making the Brazil squad for World Cup 2010 in South Africa this summer.
“There was an uproar at home, he told Globo.
“I was nervous, but I was confident. I have realised a childhood dream, I watched the 1994 World Cup on television with Romario and Bebeto and now I'll be there to play.”
The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined Milan from Fluminense, will play second fiddle to first choice pairing Lucio and Juan but didn’t let that curb his enthusiasm.
“The important thing is just being in the group,” he continued.
“I know it is very complicated because of Lucio and Juan, but both Luisao and I are in good condition. Now we all just have to work to try to win the tournament.”
