Aleksandar Kolarov Slams ‘Sick’ Behaviour Of Lazio Fans Against Inter

Lazio defender Aleksandar Kolarov has slammed the behaviour of his side’s fans  following the defeat to Inter on Sunday evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

With Inter one point behind Lazio’s fierce rivals Roma in the race for the Scudetto, a section of the Biancocelesti faithful took to jeering their own team and cheering on their opponents.

“I am still disconcerted by what happened,” Kolarov told Serbian daily Nacional.

“I have never seen anything like it in my career. Instead of being behind us and cheering for Lazio’s survival, the majority of the fans at the Olimpico were hurling insults at us.

“They shouted at us urging us not to play our game. The jeers and moans that accompanied our goalkeeper’s every save and our own attacks were incredible.”

Lazio eventually went down 2-0, a result that brought cheers from all around the ground and saw Inter reclaim top spot.

“I don’t know whether to define all this as anti-Roma hatred,” he added. “In my view it went beyond sporting rivalry, beyond common sense and intelligence. It isn’t a passion anymore, this is sick. I simply cannot understand how someone could prefer to damage another team rather than support their own.”
