Italian international Giuseppe Rossi could be heading back to Serie A to join Napoli this summer, according to his agent.
"The interest of [president Aurelio] De Laurentiis goes back to last year,” Federico Pastorello, told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“The president called me and informed me of his relationship with Villarreal,” he continued. “We just simply talked. It’s clear that anything could happen in the summer.“
The former Manchester United striker has been linked with a move back to Serie A on a number of occasions over the last year, with reports suggesting that the 23-year-old thinks he may have to return to Italy in order to boost his chances of featuring regularly for the Italian national team.
Despite Rossi himself saying just last week that he intended to stay with the Yellow Submarine, the club are known to be in considerable debt and it is believed that a number of their biggest assets may be sold off this summer to ease the club’s increasingly precarious financial situation.
