Davide Santon Hails ‘Perfect’ Inter

The youngster feels yesterday’s Milan derby win will be key to the title race.
Inter full-back Davide Santon has suggested there might be no room left for Milan to wrest the Serie A title away from the Nerazzurri after the reigning champions condemned their ‘cugini’ to a 2-0 defeat in the Derby della Madonnina last night.

“It was the perfect game,” Santon smiled on Inter Channel.

“We all sacrificed and helped one another and managed to win a great game, a very important game for the future of this championship.”

The 19-year-old Italy international has recently returned to action after undergoing meniscus surgery in November.

“My knee has responded well and I’m ready to start over,” he explained.

Santon was named in the starting XI by Jose Mourinho due to the Beneamata’s defensive injury crisis, but insists he didn’t let the derby pressure get to him.

“A derby is always a derby, but I was very relaxed,” he said. “And we’ll now take it from here…”

Inter are now nine points clear of second-placed Milan in the league table. Next up for the Nerazzurri is a Coppa Italia quarter-final tie with Juventus at San Siro on Thursday night.
