Second-placed Milan have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their top-of-the-table-clash against Inter on Sunday. It has been confirmed that Alessandro Nesta won't be able to line up in the derby because of injury.
Nesta hurt his left thigh during the Serie A game against Siena last weekend and had been unable to train this week. However, he was reported to have worked in the gym on his own on Friday under the supervision of the club's medical team. But according to Sky Sport 24, the club doctors at Milan have ruled Nesta out of this clash.
This is indeed bad news for Rossoneri coach Leonardo, who was counting on the central defensive partnership of Nesta and Thiago Silva to stave off the Inter attacking players. It's now being assumed that Giuseppe Favalli will pair up with the Brazilian at the heart of the Milan backline.
Milan are six points behind leaders Inter with a game in hand.
