Brazilian international striker Julio Batpista will not make a switch from Roma to fellow Serie A side Inter during the January transfer window.
The news filtered through on Monday and Nerazzurri technical director Marco Branca explained yesterday the reasons behind their apparent U turn after the ex-Real Madrid man had looked all set to transfer to the Stadio San Siro.
“Yes, we can say that the deal has definitely collapsed,” Branca told LaRoma24.it.
“There was no economic agreement between the parties and so nothing came out of it.”
There were suggestions that Inter were prepared to sweeten the deal by using centre-back Nicolas Burdisso as a bargaining chip since the Argentine is currently on loan at the Olimpico.
“It just means that a deal for Burdisso has been put on hold for the time being,” said Branca.
“We will resume talking with Roma about it in June.”
